Our Story

My name is Annmarie Metor and I’m Dominican by birth. I have been living and working in the BVI for over 20 years which is where I now call home. I love everything about the BVI, from the endless sun, pristine turquoise sea, who’s waters are edged by the warm sand against it’s shores, the lively green and brilliant colours of the hills to the cool waft of breeze that dissipates the heat of the air.

Over the years I’ve garnered and organically grown a great network of friends and a community of support who have all contributed to my quality of life on the island. Some of them have relocated or returned to other countries around the world but I still get to enjoy time with them when I travel.

My passion for massage and wanting to offer a ‘sense of calm’ comes from within my ancestral traits, my great grandmother was a traditional healer in the community where I grew up and I was always intrigued by her gifted hands and how she cared about her people and her surroundings. Not only have I inherited her traits and desire to heal through touch but I also believe that along with my natural gifting and work experience within hospitality, I can truly deliver restoration, invigoration and an overall enhanced sense of well-being to my patrons.

After the devastation caused by hurricane Irma and Maria in 2017, I relocated temporarily to Curaçao. My dear friends Natasha and Johnny housed my daughter and I as we recovered from our ordeal. I had talked about becoming a Massage Therapist for so many years and so Natasha encouraged me to pursue my goal, saying “this is the perfect time to become a qualified Massage Therapist!” She has been an Esthetician and Massage Therapist for over 26 years and her admirable work and passion has been an inspiration. During my time there I was able to make the most of my journey by going to Dutch accredited massage school program where I received my certification in Massage Therapy, ‘Basic and Spa manicure / pedicure’ and Body wrap Treatment.

When we returned to BVI, I began offering mobile ‘on site’ massage therapy services to clients. The process led me to scout for a commercial space where I could create my vision, a place that offers wellness of the mind, body and soul, a mini ‘tranquil haven’, called ‘Sail Away Wellness & Spa’ and now that we’re finally opened! I am more than thrilled to welcome my community and friends and to say that I definitely trust the process of Destiny!
